William Almy came to New England first by himself sometime before 1631 when he was recorded at Lynn, Massachusetts. He returned to England around 1634 and came back to Massachusetts with his wife Audrey and their children on the Abigail in 1635. In 1637 the Almys were one of the first ten families to settle in the town of Sandwich, Massachusetts, where they remained only four years.
In 1642 they moved to Portsmouth, Rhode Island, where Audrey is to believed to have died in 1676
1635 - Having been home to Engkand, came the 2nd time to N.E. on the "Abigail." Age 34 yrs; wife Audrey 32, daughter Anne 8, Son Christopher 3.

He was a founder in 1637 at Sandwich, Barnstable, MA, USA; Grant 3 April 14637 Rem. & sold Sandwich land 2 Jun 1642 [ Pope 16]. Removed to R.I., then to L.I.. About 1637 he moved to Sandwich. Land was granted him in 1640, which he sold in 1642, removing to Portsmouth, Rhode Island in 1643 he became one of the founders of Sandwich in the Plymouth Colony, being one of the "tenn men of Saugust" to whom the Court of Assistants of that Colony, on 3 Apr. 1637, granted "liberty to view a place to sitt downe," with "sufficient lands for three score families." He left Sandwich before 7 Dec. 1641, when a calf belonging to him was attached "to answere the jury vj vj and iij to the Clarke for the charges of a suite he left vnpayd when hee lefte the towne of Sandwich."
He lived in 1643 at Portsmouth, RI, USA; removing to Portsmouth, Rhode Island in 1643. He lived there until his death in 1676 (Daniels says 1677).
He was a prominent man in the affairs of the town. He became a Quaker.
He purchased land of PO on 22 June 1644 at Sandwich, MA, USA; Sold Sandwich land to Edward Freeman.
He purchased land of PO on 14 November 1644 at Portsmouth, RI, USA; Had a grant of land at Wading River in Portsmout.
He was Elected M after 1655 at Portsmouth, RI, USA; and was later Juryman and Commissioner.
He was made a Freeman in 1655 at Portsmouth, Newport, RI, USA.
He was buried in February 1676; Will proved by sons Christopher and Job.
He left a will on 28 February 1676; Will proved by sons Christopher and Job.
In his will of 28 Feb. 1676/7 he requests that his body be buried beside his son John, gives to her wife for her lifetime all his estate, and provides that at her death half of the farm next to the land which he gave his son John shall go to his son Christopher, while the other half of the farm, with dwelling house, two orchards, etc., shall go to his son Job. The malt house is not to be divided, but is to be held in equal shares and kept for a malt house every season. To each of his daughters, Anna and Catherine, he gives two parts of his cattle and movables, and to each of his sons, Christopher and Job, one part. To his grandchild, Bartholomew West he leaves £20, to be paid to him when he is twenty-one years of age. He makes his sons Christopher and Job executors.
He died on 23 February 1677 at Portsmouth, Newport, RI, USA; Apr.
He died between 28 February 1677 and 23 April 1677.
His estate was probated on 3 April 1677; His wife had evidently died before him.
