He John Augur died in 1726 , aged 40 years. According to th e East Haven Register by Rev. Stephen Dodd, he was a shoema ker, and probably lived in East Haven. On February 25, 1709, a half division of land was made. 'J ohn Augur, Poll, I, oe21, Acres, 2 1/4'. This is believe d to be the land on which afterward stood the house occupie d by Daniel, later by Philemon, and on which the house occu pied by Rosewell, now stands. There is some doubt whethe r the present house was Daniel's residence. If so, it ha s undoubtly been considerably renovated. When John died, h is youngest son Abraham was only about two years old.

Robert Augur was He may
have been a clerk in his Uncle Nicholas' mercantile business we Nicholas
carried on in addition to his medical practice. After his uncle's death he
may have continued that business for his Aunt Esther or for himself; but of
his occupation in life we have no certain knowledge.
He was TAX ROLL; His name does not appear
in a list of the original planters of East Haven in 1702; yet a New Haven
Colonial Records list of those who had allotments on the east side (East
Haven) includes the name of Robert Augur; number of persons in his family,
five; amount on which he paid taxes, #8; number of acres to which he was
entitled, twenty-one. He may have lived on this land, but that is quite
doubtful. The number of persons in his family is given as five, but from the
record of births we can make only four. There may gave been another child not
mentioned in the records, possibly a first Mary who died young.
He was born circa 1560 at England.
He was the son of John Augur and Ann (?).
Robert Augur immigrated on "At a Town Meeting in New Haven, Feb. 7, 1668, Mr. Davenport came
into the meetings and spoke concerning the establishment of a Grammar or
Collegiate School As designed by the bequest of Mr. Hopkins. He wished to
know whether the people desired to send their songs to such a school, and
asked those present to express themselves. Upon which Robert Alling declared
his purpose to bring up one of his sons to learning; also Thomas Trowbridge,
David Atwater and others. Mr. Augur (Nicholas) said he intended to send for a
kinsman from England" (New Haven Colonial Records).
This kinsman probably was Robert, and he may have attended Hopkins
Grammar School, which was established soon after that meeting.
In 1668.
He married Mary Guilbert, daughter of Deputy Govenor Matthew Guilbert and Jane Baker, on 20 November 1673 at New Haven, New Haven, CT, USA; Reverend Stephen Dodd, in his East Haven Register mentions Robert,
and gives facts concerning his marriage, and the names and dates of birth of
his children. Robert Augur was admitted a free.
Robert Augur was FREEMAN in 1674; Robert Augur was admitted a free inhabitant in 1674.
He lived in 1680 at New Haven, New Haven, CT, USA; The house and land in New Haven where he probably lived in 1680, was
then held in the name of Mathew Guilbert which accounts for the small amount
on which he paid taxes. Revered Daniel W. Havens in his Manuscript History of
East Haven, supplementary to Dodd's East Haven Register, assumes that he
removed to East Haven, and states that there is no record of the death of
either Robert or his wife Mary. But later he gives the date of death of Mary,
widow of Robert, 19 February 1731, about four years after the death of her
son John.
He died after 1704.
